Working-dog training for the urban pet dog: In past generations, people treated their pets as animals. Today many couples are choosing to have less or no children and are therefore replacing that need to love and nurture on their pets. Pet-dogs are now allowed to go places that were only accessible to working dogs in the past. Unfortunately, most of these pets do not have the working-dog based training necessary to conduct themselves properly in public environments. Another growing desire is for the protection and security of the family by the family pet-dog. This type of training in the past had been relegated to police k-9 trainers or sport-dog (Schutzhund or Ring) trainers with highly bred dogs. These aren’t your typical dogs and owners who just want a dog that can behave at home, accompany them to different locations and ward off a threatening individual if needed. The Program Over the past 15 years The Doggy Dojo’s owners have grown elite dog training services based on the concept of providing working-dog training for the average pet. Working-dog training techniques are known to relatively few trainers and therefore makes The Doggy Dojo a niche provider in a mainstream market. The Doggy Dojo offers a variety of training needed by today’s urban dog owners to include obedience, service, and protection dog training. The Doggy Dojo offers instruction in different aspects of dog training. However, the emphasis will be teaching the dogs and owners self-confidence, self-control and respect for others. Although most of the clients elect to take private weekly classes, The Doggy Dojo also offers specialized board and train packages.
