First Citizens Bank began in 1898 as the Bank of Smithfield in Johnston County, North Carolina from a single office, we’ve grown to more than 550 branches in 23 states. We’ve been led by members of the same family for three generations. Today we’re one of the largest family-controlled banks in the country.
