Southwest Medical, Official Medical Partner of the Vegas Golden Knights, recognizes employees

LAS VEGAS – Southwest Medical, Official Medical Partner of the Vegas Golden Knights, recently recognized two of their employees for their outstanding patient care.

Lauren Dowell, RNCM (registered nurse case manager) with Southwest Medical Hospice Care, works directly with terminally ill patients and their families to provide end-of-life care. She was recognized for her exceptional care and the extra assistance she provided recently to a patient who had no surviving friends or family to help them.

Melissa Stevens, RN, is a registered nurse for Optum Palliative Care, and meets with seriously and terminally ill patients in their homes, coordinating care based on the patient’s goals. She was recognized for her efforts on behalf of a young terminally ill patient living below the poverty level and without transportation options, ensuring the patient’s medical records could be retrieved and transported and allowing the patient to make informed critical life decisions.

To recognize their efforts, Southwest Medical, part of Optum, presented Dowell with the honor of presiding as the “March Marshal” for a game earlier this year between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Carolina Hurricanes, leading the pre-game spirit march through Toshiba Plaza and the New York-New York Hotel & Casino before the game. Also as part of the company’s program recognizing outstanding employees, Stevens was awarded free tickets to the same game.
