Goodwill of Southern Nevada Thrift Stores to Support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, now Blood Cancer United, in September

Care-to-Care program invites Goodwill customers to help cure blood cancers

Goodwill of Southern Nevada’s (Goodwill®) yearlong 50th anniversary celebration continues with a September fundraising campaign that will raise at least $5,000, and up to $10,000, for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, now Blood Cancer United®, the largest global nonprofit focused on serving blood cancer patients. Blood Cancer United brings together a community of people—patients and their families, survivors, caregivers, healthcare providers, volunteers, staff, partners, researchers, fundraisers, and philanthropists—united by the belief that all blood cancer patients deserve longer, fuller lives. This support ensures no one faces blood cancer alone.

The in-store fundraising effort is part of the Goodwill Care-to-Care Nonprofit Fundraising Partnerships program, which invites Goodwill thrift store customers to contribute a dollar or more at checkout to support both Goodwill training scholarships and a monthly local nonprofit organization.

“In addition to helping people overcome barriers to employment, Goodwill is proud to support fellow nonprofits that guide individuals and families through challenges impacting life itself,” said Goodwill of Southern Nevada President and CEO Rick Neal. “Through our partnership with Blood Cancer United, Goodwill is proud to support people in our community who are impacted by blood cancer.”

“The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, now Blood Cancer United, has a bold goal: to enable patients with blood cancer to gain more than one million years of life by 2040,” said Lisa Ball, Blood Cancer United Desert Region Executive Director. “The funds raised at Goodwill will help us reach this goal, helping patients live longer better lives.”

Goodwill thrift store customers can contribute to Goodwill training scholarships and Blood Cancer United by donating a dollar or more during checkout.
