Fuilala Riley Joins NSB's 'Through the Door' to Share How HELP of Southern Nevada Tackles Homelessness and Builds Community
LAS VEGAS – Nevada State Bank (NSB) has released the latest episode of its podcast series, “Through the Door: The Insider’s Perspective on Running a Business.” In “Episode Fifteen: The Business of HELPing People: Leading a Nonprofit in Nevada,” host Megan Comfort welcomes Fuilala Riley, President and CEO of HELP of Southern Nevada, for an inside look at running one of the region’s most impactful nonprofits. Riley discusses her journey from volunteer to CEO, how HELP addresses homelessness through prevention, housing, and workforce programs, and the critical role businesses and community collaborations play in creating lasting change. She also shares strategies for managing growth, navigating funding challenges, and fostering a culture of compassion and resilience in serving Southern Nevada’s most vulnerable populations.
Fuilala Riley is a graduate of UNLV’s hospitality program and currently serves as President and CEO of HELP of Southern Nevada. She began her career with the organization as an events and development manager and advanced through leadership roles before being appointed CEO in 2016. Today, Riley oversees 10 departments, a team of more than 160 employees, and programs that serve tens of thousands of clients annually. Under her leadership, HELP expanded services significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic, adding 400 beds for homeless individuals and families, providing 3,400 months of rental and utility assistance, and creating 30 additional jobs within the nonprofit. HELP also received the largest private donation in its 50-year history, $5 million, from the Bezos Day One Fund, which is being used to end homelessness for 150 Southern Nevada families.
