Touro University Nevada is proud to announce the addition of David Marlon PsyD, MBA, CPC, LADC-S, PRSS-S, to the advisory board council. Dr. Marlon is the Co-founder & Chief Executive Officer at Vegas Stronger, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to reduce homelessness and addiction. His expertise will be instrumental as Touro Nevada deepens its commitment to advancing behavioral health education.
“Nevada consistently ranks among the lowest in mental health outcomes, making it essential to prioritize care for the whole person, including mental health,” says Dr. Patrica Salkin, Provost & Chief Academic Officer. “Having Dr. Marlon working alongside us to support education of mental health will generate a positive health impact for Nevada.”
Dr. Marlon has lived and worked in healthcare in Las Vegas, Nevada for 37 years, and has been consistently recognized by his peers as a leader in his field. He is the former President of the Southern Nevada Association of Addiction Professionals (SNAAP) and received the 2018 National Advocacy Award from NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals. Dave previously served on the boards of HELP of Southern Nevada and the Las Vegas Rescue Mission, and was the Chairman of the Board for the Nevada Donor Network Foundation. Additionally, he helped establish Mission High School, the nation's first public recovery high school.
“I was inspired to join the advisory board because of Touro Nevada’s commitment to educating the next generation of healthcare professionals,” shared Dr. Marlon. “Touro Nevada aligns with my belief that healthcare should be accessible, integrated, and person-centered. The focus on both academic rigor and community service speaks to my values and the work I’ve been involved in through organizations like Vegas Stronger.”
Dr. Marlon has more than 30 years of healthcare experience. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the State University of New York and holds a master’s in business administration and a master’s in counseling from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and received his Doctorate of Psychology at Walden University.
“I hope to contribute by bridging the gap between academia and real-world clinical practice, especially in the areas of mental health, addiction recovery, and integrated care. My goal is to share insights from the frontlines of behavioral health, help shape educational priorities that reflect emerging needs, and support Touro Nevada in preparing graduates who can not only treat patients but also transform communities,” added Dr. Marlon.
